General Education Program

The General Education program is a hallmark of an American college education. This set of required courses, which all undergraduates take, usually in their first two years, helps students acquire the foundational skills and habits of mind they need to succeed in their studies and career, and become adaptive, life-long learners.

Program Goals

The program aims to help students:

• Broaden their knowledge of the social and natural world and of themselves and grow as a learner and individual.
• Become an informed and ethically aware individual who is attentive to diversity and knowledgeable about how their actions impact local and global communities.
• Strengthen their ability to make connections between ideas and concepts from various disciplines so that they can apply knowledge and skills to new contexts and questions.

The Politis Program of Civic Engagement

The Politis Program aims to foster civic engagement through service-learning opportunities, volunteer work, and other forms of co-curricular community involvement. All undergraduate students complete 45 hours of service-learning activities and community volunteer work prior to their graduation.

Spanish Language Immersion Opportunity

Students who have successfully completed the Spanish language requirement are invited to participate in a cultural immersion experience at Universidad Nebrija in Madrid, Spain. This one-week, non-credit program offers a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Spanish language and culture through full immersion. Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
